Breaking: PACT Sends Staff Home in ‘Restructuring Exercise’
This just in…There was a major shakeup at the Protected Areas Conservation Trust today. At one o’clock this afternoon, staff members were individually called into an unscheduled meeting and notified that the PACT offices will be closing immediately due to a “restructuring exercise” as government conducts the standardization of statutory boards. Fourteen staff members including the executive director cleared their desks and left the offices in Belmopan. A notice on Facebook confirms the closure of the office for one week beginning Wednesday. Word to News Five is that several employees will be rehired but on a contractual basis of three years. Those employees have been given a few days to accept or reject the offer. At the last budget, government announced that it intended to collect ten percent from statutory boards, which includes PACT. This is a story that we will continue to follow.
