Drunk Man Accidentally Stole Lady Constable’s Bike
Police have quickly nabbed a man who they say stole a bicycle belonging to a woman police officer. But he says it was an accident caused by being under the influence of alcohol. Thirty-five-year-old Eugene Lanza pleaded not guilty to the theft of a two hundred and ninety-nine-dollar bicycle belonging to community policing officer WPC Tanisha Davis on January fourteenth. According to Lanza, he was reporting an incident at the Queen Street Police Station and left on a bicycle parked inside the compound. But when he got home, he said, he realized that he had jumped on the wrong bicycle. He says he was intoxicated at the time and mistook WPC Davis’ bicycle for his own. Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford set bail for the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital attendant at six hundred dollars and ordered him back to court on March thirteenth.
