Pair to Stand Supreme Court Trial for Forged Documents

The Supreme Court has set a March trial date for two men accused of uttering on a forged document and preparation to commit a crime. Forty-three-year-old Marcos Basto of Corozal Town and thirty-one-year-old Mark Antonio Rosalez of San Pedro Town are accused of uttering on an official certificate of registration as a citizen of Belize in the name of several persons and having the certificate registrations with intent to be used to commit forgery. Basto and Rosalez pleaded not guilty to twelve counts of the former charge and thirteen of the latter.

The uttering charges are said to have taken place on October twenty-ninth in Belmopan while the preparation charges are said to have occurred a few days later on November third, 2015. The men will return to court on March second. Basto is being represented by Oscar Selgado while Rosalez has no legal counsel.
