Fareed Ahmad’s Family Torn, Dismiss Video Surveillance

Fareed Ahmad was killed on December twenty-eighth in his vehicle outside Hattieville. The alleged killer, Woman Police Constable Michelle Brown, is behind bars awaiting indictment and trial. But much about the case is still unsettling. According to police investigators and Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Elrington, newly released video surveillance places Ahmad as having picked up Brown in his vehicle on the night of the murder, which the family is disputing. But why would the upstanding Muslim barber and community activist pick up a member of the Special Assignment Team against whom he had so recently made a complaint? The family, represented by younger brother Faisal, believes there is more to the story than meets the eye.

“Pertaining to that, you could say you see a vehicle, but you can’t tell who deh ina da vehicle; what if Fareed was in that vehicle by himself? Like I said, you can’t just draw…”

“Exactly; and you can’t just draw conclusions based on what you see, you need to be in that vehicle presently. Obviously the camera noh show weh de ina di vehicle. I think the police and the media need to stop pushing dehn thing ya; dehn thing ya bogus.”
The Ahmad family continues to call for an independent international investigation and the head of the Nation of Islam, Minister Louis Farrakhan, has been suggested as a potential source. To close the briefing, Espat read a list of other recently deceased and missing persons on whose behalf he also demanded justice.
