Mom Pleads for Help to Solve Disappearance of Son, Jamal Humes

Twenty-eight year old Jamal Humes has been missing since December twentieth, 2017. The auto mechanic disappeared sometime between socializing with friends and visiting his mother’s house. Searches of the immediate area have turned up nothing, but the family believes it has found a possible motive in the far north, potentially involving a police officer. Humes was said to be staying with an officer who owned a parts store in San Joaquin, Corozal. When questioned, that officer said Jamal was recommended to sell auto parts for him in Belize City, but they had lost touch and he lost a sum of money. The family believes that the policeman knows more than he is telling. But to be sure, Sharlene Nicholas tonight makes a plea for the telephone company to release phone records linked to a cell phone owned by her son in a different name.

“I am now under the assumption that my son has witnessed or seen or heard something that got him now, here, to where’s he’s at. And also, I believe the reasons that we are turned around with B.T.L., because I am under the understanding that today is the last day where it is possible anything can be retrieved from that phone if they get it, because my son has been missing almost a month now, and I understand that it’s a month it takes where they can retrieve that stored information at B.T.L. I understand that the same guy’s girlfriend, wife or whatever to him that he is living with works also at B.T.L. so we now understand why the reasons for all the turnaround with B.T.L. and the turnaround with the police force, because basically it is one of their own and the lady works at B.T.L. So this is the reason we have been beating our heads, trying to figure out why is this so difficult in order to get just one phone record. And also I learned lately that the phone my son has was not registered in his name; the phone was registered in another guy’s name; he was there the day my son went to register the phone. Jamal didn’t have an I.D. on him, so he asked the guy that he needs this phone, so register this phone in your name for me. And he registered the phone. We asked the guy to go into B.T.L., explain this information to them, stating that this is your phone and what you are requesting from your phone. The lady at customer service at B.T.L. didn’t even give the guy the decency of an explanation as to why he wants the record. She’s just sitting there – nope, nope, nope, nope – without even giving him time to say anything. It was automatically nope, nope, like they were there waiting for us, or if she’s seen me and knows the reason why we were there, which isn’t right. If you want your information and you have proof this phone is yours, then I don’t see why they should have a problem with that unless they have something to hide and don’t want it to come out. So that’s what we are requesting to B.T.L., the police to move forward because I know it can be done. If this guy is there, requesting my phone record, why do we have to go around, all this dance, in order to get a record if I am there in person asking for it? It was not registered in my son’s name anymore, we have now learnt that it was not in his name, so why are we having so difficult a time unless it’s a turnaround or you have something to hide. And we passed over all this information to police, and I don’t even know if they have bothered to bring in [bleep] to question him, to find out if what we are saying is accurate, or what does he have to say pertaining to my son?”
