Police Continue to Follow Leads on Mark Pollard’s Whereabouts

Mark Pollard

We’ve been reporting on the case of missing man Mark Pollard since last year. There are several reports that Pollard has been killed and his body dumped, but so far all search efforts have failed to locate a body. A recording was released on Wednesday by the family in which someone believed to be a family member says that Pollard was killed over a family land matter. Police say they are pursuing all leads, but no evidence to support such claims.

“Yes, we are aware of that recording and have already dealt with that recording. So far, I know that the Police have been assisting that family. Every time they request it, the Police is there with them. I know that just this week Tuesday; police got information that there may be some remains at seventeen miles at one of their properties. Police went to that area and checked one of the wells where they said the body was, however, it proved to be negative. I know that police is up and down following it up. Reference to those recordings, the female person that is being questioned, I know that she spoke one time with Sergeant Novelo who is in charge of Precinct Two here; in regards to that recording and the remains. Initially, it was she who brought that information to us and disseminate with the rest of the family.  That is the reason we went to cemetery and broke that tomb and show them that there was no remains in the tomb as they were alleging.”

“But has this person been questioned about that specific threat which was made?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Yes. She has been spoken to about that. Let me be clear that what is being said that’s he is above the law and nothing can be done to her, I don’t see where they are getting that.”

Reporter

“Are you able to clarify then if it has been dispelled if she had no connection with the missing case itself?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well, at this point I cannot tell you if there is no connection or not, as the investigation still continues. Several family members have been interviewed and at no time they mentioned to the investigators that they were being threatened by the other family members. It was up to now that this recording came out that this person is reporting that these persons have been threatening them, apart from the recording.”

Reporter

“But the person from the call claims specific knowledge of murder?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Yes.”

Reporter

“Isn’t that something quite serious that you would follow up on?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Of course that is why we were following that. Likewise, there are other text messages that Mister Espat had sent to me, however, when he sent those text messages to me last week Friday, the person in question had departed the country on Thursday. So, there was no means or way to question that lady on the other information that he has provided to us.”
