What Were the Kaibiles Doing at the Western Border?

On Tuesday night at the western border crossing in Benque Viejo, a fifty-second surveillance footage from inside the Customs area of the Belize offices, captures three Guatemalan soldiers dressed in their military fatigues, similar to that of the Kaibiles, enter Belizean territory from the Guatemalan side. The video, courtesy of Belize Breaking News, shows the trio walking carefree pass the Organization of American States Office and then proceed to the Customs and Immigration building. There, they approached the customs officer on duty. While there is no official report on what they were inquiring, News Five has gathered that the military men wanted information on the alleged assault of a Guatemalan reporter who had entered the Champon area earlier in the day. Rigoberto Escobar Lopez, attached to Prensa Libre, claimed that he had been assaulted by Belizean authorities. Here’s what the Foreign Minister said today in respect of the incident.

“I don’t have anything official on that, really I don’t, so I could not speak to that.  I imagine if that occurred I will be furnished with a report at some time.”
