Nelson Henry Walks from Murder Charge; Witness Recants on Stand

Nelson Henry

Six and a half years after the execution of Edward Lord, Junior on Mahogany Street, murder accused twenty-eight year old Nelson Henry was today found not guilty by Supreme Court Justice Adolph Lucas. Lord was shot in the early evening, still in daylight, not far from the Mahogany Street police substation. The main witness for the prosecution, a diarist at the Mahogany Street police substation, had told police that she witnessed the shooting after leaving the station to go to buy and later gave a statement. But on the witness stand she completely changed her story, denying even giving police a statement or ever witnessing any murder. The diarist refused to cooperate with the Crown prosecutor by providing a dock identification of Henry and even treating the witness as hostile failed to sway her. With that, the Crown closed its case and Justice Lucas determined that Henry had no evidence against him and was free to go. Henry had been out on bail of twenty thousand dollars since September 2017 after attorney Oscar Selgado successfully applied before Justice Lucas. He had previously been on remand since the incident.
