Police Activate Mediation; Need Your Help in Investigation

Allen Whylie

This morning, prior to the press brief at the Raccoon Street Police Station in Belize City, the top brass of the police department including, ACP Chester Williams, the Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie and Operations Commander ACP Edward Broaster held an intervention session with the families and close friends of the recent victims of Tuesday’s shootings. It’s a first step of mediation that will see the return of Williams and his team to the city in an attempt to avert retaliation in the wake of the four murders. ComPol Whylie says they will need continued assistance from the public, as increased patrols and raids take effect.

“I would like to appeal to the public to continue to assist us in terms of sharing information in respect to these incident that have occurred as well as other incidents of crime that have occurred. As a result of these incidents, I have directed that additional investigators from the Crimes Investigation branch to be deployed to assist the investigators where these three incidents have occurred. We have also launched a number of stop and searches operations and raids to seek suspects in these incidents as well as to look at associates in the effort to reduce the possibility of any retaliation from the associates and friends of these individuals who were killed. I have also directed Mister Williams who heads the mediation team, to get his team involved to visit these areas where the incidents occurred and to speak with the family members and friends of the deceased to see how the mediation team can assist to mediate whatever ongoing conflict is occurring. I want to reassure the public that we are doing our utmost best to solve these recent cases.”
