2 Arraigned for Ladyville Double Murder
On Thursday evening, police officially arrested and charged a duo from Ladyville for Tuesday night’s double murder. This afternoon the two youths were brought to court for the murders of Casey Lozano and Marlon Spain and injury to Jonah Gray and Sydney Humes. Twenty-three-year-old Jessie Mejia and twenty-two-year-old Darwin Prado also appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer on charges of use of deadly means of harm on Gray and Humes; grievous harm against Humes and wounding against Gray. No plea was taken and the pair was remanded to prison until April twenty-sixth.
On Tuesday night on Marage Road in the Japan area, Lozano and Spain among others were socializing when two armed men opened fire indiscriminately, wounding several persons including Spain who was leaving his yard when he walked into the line of fire and had not been socializing with the group on the street. Mejia faces several other charges in court as well including two attempted murder cases and a gun charge pending trial.
