Man Chopped, Robbed in South Stann Creek

One man remains hospitalized after being chopped multiple times on Saturday night in South Stann Creek.  The incident took place just outside of Independence Village where the victim was reportedly approached by several persons who viciously attacked him.  While the police department was very limited in the information that it shared with the media earlier today, News Five understands that the injured person was also robbed of his money.

“I was just told of an incident in the Independence area, but we are just waiting to see what other information we will be getting from the police there.  Apparently there was a chopping incident Saturday night and the male person was transported to the hospital, but up to now we don’t have the full details in regards to that.”

“Nothing fatal?”

“I cannot tell you up to this moment.  I just got that information before I got in to do the briefing.”

“You don’t which hospital he was taken to?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“I believe it was the Southern Regional Hospital.  I cannot tell you what is the extent of the injuries or where exactly it happened but know it is from the Independence area.  It’s a male person.”

A police investigation continues.
