Man Arrested in Belmopan Killing of Errol Gabourel

There’s another murder arrest. One month after the vicious killing of twenty-six-year-old Errol Gabourel Smith, Devon Brooks of Cotton Tree village has been charged with his murder. On December twenty-seventh, the body of Gabourel, also known as “Rabbit,” was found in the Belize River outside of Roaring Creek. Gabourel was an ex-con seeking a new life, but he was killed despite staying close to home. Police had initially zeroed in another suspect, Brian Hyde, who was charged with two separate incidents in Corozal and Belmopan, but announced Brooks’ arrest late this evening.
