Director and deputy resign in prison shakeup
Things behind the walls of the Hattieville Correctional Facility are running a little differently tonight since the resignation of two of its top officials. Sources at the prison tell News 5 that Director Errol Gentle and his deputy, Mark Flowers, both handed in their resignations, effective this past Monday. Taking over as deputy director is Anthony Sankey. Sankey, formerly the head of security for Belize Telecommunications Limited, officially assumed office on Monday. Marlon Skeen remains in place as C.E.O. and it is not clear who, if anyone, will be hired as director. In November, the management of the prison was handed over to the Kolbe Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization overseen by a number of local Rotarians. At that handing over it was widely speculated that a new management team would eventually be put in place.
