Two killed in Hummingbird Highway crash
Police are trying to figure out who was driving a vehicle which rammed into the back of a commercial bus, killing two people, and leaving two others seriously injured. The incident occurred at around mile seven on the Hummingbird Highway, near Armenia Village around 11 o’clock Sunday morning and claimed the lives of two year-old Helson Menjivar and eighteen year-old Allen Vargas. Both the James bus and the green pick-up truck were travelling toward Belmopan at the time. Bus driver, thirty-nine year-old Evral Duncan, reported to police that he was travelling from Punta Gorda to Belize City and had just stopped to pick up two passengers when the vehicle crashed into the rear of the bus. Injured are the dead child’s father, thirty-nine year-old Hector Menjivar, and another child, three year-old Joel Menjivar. Hector told police that Vargas had been driving, but the investigators are still seeking more evidence.
