Murder in Independence looks like hired hit
Tonight, Independence police are looking for three men in connection with a murder investigation in that southern village. News 5 understands that late Monday night, twenty-eight year old Gilbert “Gilly” Ramclam was last seen driving in a black Suzuki with two other men. That was the last time friends saw Ramclam alive. On Friday afternoon, a search party out looking for the young man discovered his body on a side road off the Southern Highway near the P.G. junction. He had been shot twelve times in the chest. Sources in Independence say the two men last seen with Ramclam had been in the village for about a month, but were known only as “C.J.” and “Jumbo”. Police have since been unable to locate the duo for questioning. The crime has shocked the small community and rumours as to a possible motive for the murder have been running rampant. The most popular story in circulation is that C.J. and Jumbo were hired hit men, ordered to kill Ramclam because of his friendship with the common-law wife of another man from Independence. Since the discovery of Ramclam’s body, we are reliably informed that the husband in question has also left the village. Anyone with any information about this case is asked to please contact the nearest police station.
