B.D.F. Dies after Burns from Fire in the South
A soldier of the Belize Defence Force lost his life in unexpected circumstances while attending to household chores on Saturday evening. Twenty-seven-year-old Rodolfo Martinez was operating a lawnmower and had fuel container on him. Around five-forty-five p.m., he entered his home in Big Falls, Toledo for a glass of water, but while near the stove, he caught fire by a lit burner. Despite attempts made by his family to save the private, Martinez sustained burn injuries to the front of his body and was initially taken to the Punta Gorda Hospital. He was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and died on Monday.
