According to Elrington, the United Nations Development Programme, U.N.D.P., is also on board, providing funding to assist in the referendum process which is to take place after the a re-registration exercise. Elrington says all hands are on deck, including the L.G.B.T.I. community, specifically Caleb Orozco who has provided an advocacy proposal. Elrington says the campaign will have them reach out to all Belizeans, from north to south where concerns were expressed about the questions being posed to the Maya communities.

“We are reaching out to the people down south and some members of the indigenous community got a little concerned because of some of the questions that were being asked of them. Actually we had not authorized that either so we are seeking to sort that out, but the important thing is that we are reaching out far and wide so that every Belizean, of every ethnic group, will be properly informed as to what the issues are so that they will be in a position to make valued judgment when they decide on how to vote in the referendum.”
