Technology creates personalized Christmas gifts

The items in this next story are not your traditional Christmas gifts…but use of the latest computer technology does not make them any less authentically Belizean. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods takes the first of what will hopefully be many looks at what’s new in Christmas gifts.
Micelle Rudon, Co owner, Genesis Arts
“We try to make it a complete Belizean package, something that we Belizeans at home can enjoy everyday and something that if we send out to family and friends that they will love because it brings home a slice of Belize.”
Jacqueline Woods, Reporting
The products all feature Belizean faces and places, but more importantly, if you desire, you can have your own personalized photos on any of the Christmas items Genesis Arts has designed for this season.
Michelle Rudon
“What we try to do this year is come up with a complete Christmas package that’s very reasonable to the budget, because that is very important this year. We have personalized mugs, we have about fifteen different designs and the people can come in and put their children’s photos on it or their own photo. Put a personal message on top and give that as a gift. It last forever, it’s cheap and it’s really, really beautiful and unique. We also have personalized calendars, again about fifteen different designs. You come in and pick the design that you like, you put your photo in and we print it the same day for you.”
Michelle Rudon is the co-owner and art designer for Genesis Arts. Rudon says this year a lot of work also went into the production of the 2003 agenda. The diary highlights twelve of the country’s past and present athletic champions.
Michelle Rudon
“A lot of people had suggested to us that would have been a good theme because we have a lot of outstanding athletes in Belize, especially from the past that have not been recognized and we also want to recognize the talents of our young and up coming athletes.
“We added a lot of new features. We added extra pages at the back for telephone numbers and e mail, we added a fact page about Belize and we added Belizean proverbs.”
Rudon says the response from the public has been good. But don’t worry; if you would like to add these items to your Christmas shopping list, there is still time for you to drop by Genesis Arts and place your order. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
Genesis Arts is located at number three “F” Street in Kings Park or you can call them at telephone number 223-3537. The 2003 agendas are available at the Angelus Press or at Mala’s.
