UB Security Fights Off Shooter

A security guard was ambushed by a gunman on Friday morning, but lived to tell the tale. Around one-ten a.m., twenty-six-year-old Edwin Williams was at work at the University of Belize Education Campus, better known as the Old Teachers College, in West Landivar when he was approached by a gunman. The Police Street resident fought off his attacker and attempted to escape. But as he was running away, Williams was hit to the upper right leg and was later rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. While police say a motive is yet to be established, it is believed that Williams knew the shooter. Police investigation continues.
