Suspect detained for two robberies within 30 minutes

A man who is the suspect in two robberies is being detained tonight by police. According to twenty-two year old Christopher Carter, at about ten-thirty Tuesday night, a man with a chrome revolver approached him and some friends in his yard and demanded that they hand over their belongings. Carter and his friends complied and gave up their jewelry. The culprit escaped on a beach cruiser bicycle, which he also took from the yard.

About a half an hour later, Pamela Gabourel reported to police that she and a friend were standing at the entrance of her home when they were approached by a man dressed in a red shirt and black beanie, who was riding a beach cruiser bicycle. That person pointed a gun at them and demanded that they hand over their belongings including her cell phone. Police officers have since recovered her phone and have also detained one suspect, a Hattieville resident, pending charges.
