Robber kneecaps messenger, takes $2000
Belize City police are still looking for a man who held up an employee of a local computer firm and then shot him in the knee. The incident unfolded around 3:00 on Friday afternoon. Twenty year old Patrick Peyrefitte, a messenger for Business Computer Systems, told police that he had just arrived at his work site on Newtown Barracks and was getting out of the company’s vehicle when a dark complexioned man walked up and pointed a gun at him. Peyrefitte told authorities that he and his attacker started to struggle, but that the man managed to grab the collection bag containing two thousand dollars in cash and cheques. It is not certain if what happened next was the result of Peyrefitte trying to defend himself and the company’s money, but after the assailant got what he came for, he shot Peyrefitte in his right knee.
