Four injured in traffic accidents
A pair of traffic accidents have left four people injured and a hit and run driver still on the loose. On Thursday police Sergeant Florentino Salam was driving near mile two on the Southern Highway when he lost control of his Toyota pick-up, which then turned over. Both Salam and his passenger, Police Corporal A. Bol were taken to Southern Regional Hospital with head and body injuries.
In a more bizarre traffic mishap that occurred around 2:30 this morning, two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle, whose driver fled the scene. Thomas Hill of Camalote Village had his left leg amputated and Walter Smith of the same village was also injured when a vehicle, allegedly driven by a woman, drove into them as they stood on the side of the Hummingbird Highway near Constitution Drive. According to a witness, after hitting the men, the car crashed into a vehicle parked nearby. The driver then got out of her car and jumped into another one and drove off. According to police reports, the woman has been identified but not yet apprehended.
