Akeem Augustine Charged for Nomination Day Shooting
He was previously accused, but later acquitted, of a murder. But twenty-three-year-old Akeem Augustine is back behind bars tonight, charged with the attempted murder of Emmerson Garnett and aggravated assault with a firearm upon Houston Apolonio with a deadly weapon, to wit, a firearm. Augustine is also further accused of dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause dangerous harm to Garnett. On Wednesday night, Garnett and Polonio were on Police Street socializing when they were shot at. Polonio was grazed to the upper right shoulder while Garnett was hit multiple times in the body. Garnett remains hospitalized and in a stable but critical condition and in need of blood after losing a significant amount. Augustine was remanded until May seventeenth, 2018. In September Augustine walked free from a trial without jury before Justice Adolph Lucas for the 2013 murder of Ardon Belgrave.
