Williams Says ‘Rogues’ Do Not Define Police, B.D.F.
And while the Police Department has had its fair share of a black eye, ACP Williams says that the actions of the men are not indicative of the mode of operation of the unit. He says that the police department wants to assure the public, particularly the Orange Walk Town community, that there won’t be any cover-ups for their own.
ACP Chester Williams, Commander, Professional Standards Branch
“Yes it has some internal implications for us because a police officer is involved. Whilst it might look bad on the police and B.D.F., I would urge the public to understand that the police and the B.D.F. both have persons who are humans. Human nature is real wherever you go, no matter what your profession is and we will never have any organization that is squeaky clean or people who will just do exactly as they are told. There will always be those who want to go on a frolic of their own but our duty as the administrators of the two different organizations is to ensure whenever our officers step out of line that they are dealt with in accordance to law and that is exactly what we are doing. We are not here to shelter anybody. As far as we are concerned, we will follow the evidence where it takes us and the chips may fall where they may. So, if it is that at the end of the investigation we have sufficient evidence on the basis of which we can charge them, they will be charged as any ordinary person.”
Word to News Five late this evening is that police plan to charge a police officer and two B.D.F. soldiers by Saturday.
