Elderly tourist dies while snorkelling
The battle of the buses was not the only bad news in tourism today. Police report that an elderly cruise ship passenger who elected to take a caye trip died while snorkelling. Around 11:15 this morning seventy-nine year old Ruth Becker of New York was enjoying the sights of Shark Ray Alley between Caye Caulker and San Pedro when, according to her daughter, she complained of nausea and shortness of breath. Becker was taken aboard the dive boat and given C.P.R., but it was to no avail; she died shortly after noon at the San Pedro Lions Clinic. Her body was taken to the K.H.M.H. where a post mortem will be performed tomorrow.
