…And the island’s top cop says the Wilsons exaggerated

Story PictureThe march today was not a bright spot for the police department. In our story aired last week, the Wilson’s also alleged that Officer Mark Martinez attacked them when they went to rescue the teacher. Assistant Superintendent Dennis Arnold, the officer commanding the San Pedro Police Formation, says that the Wilsons’ are not being honest about the confrontation they had with Officer Martinez.

ASP Dennis Arnold, O.C., San Pedro Police
“I want it to be clear to the entire country that I will not tolerate and/or cover up anything of such from any police officer. The matter is before the court and we will leave the rest to the court. I want them to know that public opinion doesn’t win cases in court. I had told—because we had about fifteen teachers who went to the police Station and I had told them that in some way I find it hard to identify with the teacher because she was told specifically by me if anything of such occurrence happens, please report it immediately and report it to me. She did drop the charges once. So now I believe the Wilson’s have blown this thing way, way out of proportion and it was uncalled for. I believe when they went and aggravate the situation, and I am saying it again that Mr. Martinez was not at the time Mr. and Mrs. Wilson arrive there, he was not abusing her. He was not. Of course, if he was abusing her by all means I would you know appreciate and support what Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have done. But then they were the one who caused all the injuries and as a result the police fight back and both parties got injured. Mr. Martinez’s shirt got torn and his gold chain burst and the sergeant investigate the matter and as a result both Wilsons—I want to reiterate both Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and the police officer were charged. They want people to champion their cause for them. I don’t have anything personal with the Wilsons but I believe they went on the media and portray themselves to be Christian like and they are devious and lying, right.”
