Former B.D.F. Soldier Charged in Monday Night Shooting
Former soldier of the Belize Defence Force Kareem Beeks is accused of the attempted murder of Akeem Requeña on Monday night, February twenty-sixth, near Gibnut Street. Beeks was previously in court three weeks ago in connection with a reported aggravated assault and was charged with resisting arrest and using indecent words to the police. Beeks, also charged with use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm, was read the indictable charges by Magistrate Michelle Trapp, who took no plea. Beeks was remanded until May twenty-fifth when he returns to court. Requeña says he was shot once in the right lower back by one of two men on a motorcycle which drove past him as he walked. As for his previous charges, his fines are due in two installments: three hundred dollars today and two hundred by the end of March.
