Charge upgraded in San Pedro murder
Meanwhile, police today formally charged twenty-five year old Kevin Gonzalez Junior, a chef of San Pedro Town, with murder. Gonzalez was initially charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit burglary. The new charge is in connection with the murder of sixty-three year old Justo Jairo Perez, who was bludgeoned to death at his home at the corner of Pescador Drive and Ambergris Street on November second. Perez’s murderers tied his hands to his feet and taped his mouth before smashing him several times in the head with a blunt object. Perez had returned home unexpectedly that morning to pick up a fishing knife before going to check his lobster traps. That was when he walked in on his attackers, who had broken in to steal the contents of a safe secured in Perez’s home. Gonzalez, the grandnephew of the victim, joins twenty-seven year old Francis Eiley, twenty-four year old Lincoln Polonio, twenty-seven year old Ernest Savery and twenty year old Frank Vasquez, who are also charged with Perez’s murder.
