Half-scholarships awarded for E.S.T.M.
The visit of the Mexican Vice Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean also include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation and Development and the Ministry of Education. The MOU is for twenty-five half-scholarships to be awarded to students of Escuela Secundaria Technica Mexico. On behalf of the government it was signed by Deborah Domingo.
Deborah Domingo, CEO, Ministry of Education
“As a Ministry of Education, we have developed a sector strategy that has three main policy objectives and the very first one is to increase equitable access to education and I am pleased that our friends from Mexico, through this very generous donation, the twenty-five half scholarships offered to the students of Escuela Secundaria Technica, you will be doing just that; helping to increase access to education at the secondary level. For the Corozal District, when we started to look at our population in that particular area of the country we did not expect the population growth to be as much as it was. When we took the time to look at where we have moved in five years, the population in Corozal grew by over thirteen percent. Now just so we understand the scale of the challenge faced by the Ministry of Education, that thirteen percent increase in population for the Corozal District was one of the lowest in our entire country.”
