Keep Calm on Pickstock, Says Sedi

Wilfred ‘Sedi’ Elrington

Steady efforts by area representatives Wilfred ‘Sedi’ Elrington and Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez in the Pickstock and Port Loyola constituencies, did not prevent the United Democratic Party from losing considerable grounds in both electoral divisions.  While Martinez has declared that he will not offer himself for candidacy in the next general elections, Elrington is optimistic that Pickstock will remain a U.D.P.-held constituency. The P.U.P. put up a brave fight led by Deputy Party Leader Anthony Mahler, breaking a stronghold in that division.  PM Barrow acknowledges that the Opposition has gained significant grounds in both areas; however, he is of the belief that the party will rebound from those losses in time for the 2020 generals.

“We had six out of ten.  They were able, in terms of the municipal elections yesterday, to creep up and overturn our margin in Pickstock and to do the same in Port Loyola.  That is cause for some concern, but Minister Elrington knows well how to play the seesaw game, or at least he use to, he’s been winning consistently for a while so maybe he’s forgotten.  But for sure a veteran such as Sedi who has throughout the years been nothing if not consistent in terms of serving and servicing his people in Pickstock will know how to recover.”

“No matter how long Anthony Mahler remains, in like manner in which Said Musa did nothing for the people in Fort George and in like manner in which Cordel Hyde has done nothing for the people in Lake-I, Anthony Mahler, if he were in Pickstock, would do nothing for them.  My mission is to do something for the people and I am going to stick around until the last breath remains in my body to make sure that that is done.  So we’re just beginning a new round of engagement.”
