Top ambassadors meet in Teakettle

Teakettle in the Cayo District was host to a meeting of the Belize-Guatemala Joint Commission, led by the countries’ co-commissioners and ambassadors, Alexis Rosado and Georges de la Roche. The meeting was a follow-up to the February twenty-seventh joint visit of Foreign Ministers Wilfred Elrington and Sandra Jovel Polanco to the Organization of the American States’ office at the western border. The meeting was to review progress in implementing the bilateral agreements signed in 2014 and the two sides agreed to speed up implementation through their respective authorities. Additionally, the Commission prioritized areas of common interest for mutual benefit and identified pending issues in the bilateral relationship. They further agreed to establish a roadmap for the Joint Commission for the current year including indicators to measure progress. The Joint Commission will meet again in April 2018.
