Charged for fight, landscaper denies stealing weed, gold chain
Officially, thirty-six year old James Crawford of Ladyville is charged with stealing a gold chain during a fight and causing harm to Kenneth Arthurs. But it came out in the Magistrate’s Court that it was a “weed stash” going missing which caused the men to come to blows. According to Arthurs he was raking up a yard in the village and after finishing had gone to a nearby shop to buy. Crawford then approached Arthurs, asking him where he put his bag of weed that was apparently in the yard. Arthurs said he told Crawford he had no idea what he was talking about and as a result, he claimed Crawford attacked him. During the fight, Arthurs claimed, Crawford popped his ninety-dollar gold plated chain from around his neck and caused harm to him. In court before Magistrate Kadeen Palmer, Crawford pleaded guilty to harm and was fined five hundred dollars due by the first of June, 2018. In default Crawford would be sent to jail for five months. However, he denies the theft and will be tried on May sixteenth.
