U.B. will host youth rally on proposals
This Friday students from all the nation’s sixth forms and various U.B. campuses will converge in Belize City for a national youth rally. The topic is the current effort to end the Guatemalan claim. According to one of the organizers, Sandra Perez, the assembly is different from previous ones because it is intended to reflect the views of people from a wide geographic range.
Sandra Perez, Youth Rally Organizer
“We’re going to have a student from each Sixth form talk about how they feel and how they see it in their community, because we can talk about Belize, U.B., but we cannot say how the youths are feeling in Corozal, Cayo, or Stann Creek. And with this bringing this group of young people, then we have the energy, the electricity that is going to join us together. And even though the actual election process has been postponed, we need to keep the information alive, we need to disseminate the information, we need to share it with them from our point of view.”
The rally will include presentations by Foreign Affairs Minister, Assad Shoman and Ambassador Fred Martinez, and will also feature entertainment by the Young Artists Association, along with political personalities, Yellowman and Grand Master Young. The students will parade from the Isaiah Morter Monument on Albert Street West, to the Belize City Centre, where the addresses will be delivered starting at nine a.m.
