A Benefit Concert for Boy with Bone Cancer

Tonight at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts, a group of artists have been pooled together for a great cause – to help eleven-year-old Jamir Valentine, who was recently diagnosed with bone cancer. Valentine is the eldest son of performing artist Positive Vibes, who has been working around the clock to put off this benefit concert to cover medical costs for Jamir. The minor and his parents return to Merida in April for a surgery where inevitably his leg will be amputated. Earlier today, News Five caught up with Positive Vibes at the Bliss where rehearsals had just concluded for Jamir’s Benefit Concert; included in the lineup are Nello Player, M.I.K., Unlimited, Consego and Supa G.

“He received chemotherapy. And the immediate situation is that he has a tumor on his leg which is eating away his bone and an amputation will occur so I can’t even imagine what he di go through right now. I think it will change his whole life but all ah we deh yah fi he same way too. The benefit concert is set for tonight and we have entertainment from artists such as Bastic, Cross Di Nitro, Shooter, Bizmal, Nello Player, myself Positive Vibes, Consego, Continental Cat and of course topping it off is Supa G. So it is a compact line of entertainment and we are encouraging everybody to come out. Also upon entering we do have Jamir Benefit T-shirts and the slogan is beat down cancer; as you know ready fi fight down cancer. And we also have our new CD out called Sons of Punta Rock. And all proceeds from all these products is direct to Jamir’s medical expenses. The shirt is for twenty-five dollars and the CD is for ten dollars.”
