Carla Roches is Miss Garifuna Belize City

At first, fifteen year old Carla Roches did not want to enter the Miss Garifuna Belize City pageant, but after being persuaded by friends, Roches decided to participate…after all she said that it would be a lot of fun. Tonight, the teenager is all smiles, not only did she have a good time at the pageant but on Saturday night, Roches captured the hearts of the judges and was chosen to reign as Miss Garifuna Belize City 2002-2003. Besides winning the title, Roches also took home a computer and printer, a ticket to Honduras courtesy Belize Global Travel Services, a diamond ring and five hundred dollars cash from the National Garifuna Council. Other lucky young ladies that night include fourteen year old Alisha Castillo who was chosen as first runner up and Khadijah Castillo who was picked as second runner up. The Miss Garifuna Belize City Pageant is held to promote the Garifuna culture. The National Miss Garifuna pageant will take place in Dangriga on Saturday November, ninth.
