Mexican circus features animals
We’re not sure why, but over the years Belize has become firmly established on the circuit of Mexican circuses. Each one claims to be the biggest and best and the latest to come to town is no exception.

One of the biggest attractions of the King Brothers Circus of Mexico is the animals. Today, the furry visitors created quite a stir at their temporary Belize residence: the Belize City Centre.

“Why did you decide to bring the children out this morning?”
Onlooker #1
“I only bring them to watch the animals them, because I promise them this morning I wah bring them out.”

“You plan to come to the circus?
Onlooker #1
“Noh really.”
Onlooker #2
“Bring out my kids to see the elephants and all different kind of animals that they have.”
Jacqueline Woods
“You plan to come to the circus?”
Onlooker #2
“Yes, Friday.”
Jacqueline Woods
“Is it the first time that you’re actually seeing an elephant, camel and tiger, or you’ve seen these animals before?”
Onlooker #3
“Yes, I see them before when circus Hermanos Suarez mi come down.”

“But it’s been a long time?”
Onlooker #3
“Yes. I like see the animals, but they smell too stink.”
The animals didn’t study the humans very much, being more interested in munching on some good local grass, vegetables and fruits.
Though the children tried to get the attention of the Siberian tigers, the majestic beasts did not budge.

“Come to the circus you will enjoy all this work. We start Friday at 7:30.”
Stanley Hernandez, the circus clown, says the animals are prepared to give Belizeans a spectacular show, especially the elephants.

“She is in training in the mornings, all morning she’s in training. She knows the job, she knows the routine.”

“When you all bring the circus to a place like Belize where the climate is very hot, what kind of care is given to the animals?”
Stanley Hernandez
“Well she [elephant] eat three times a day and we wash her three times a day too. Equally with the horses and the tigers; the tigers, they eat chicken.”
Preparations are well underway for the first show on Friday night. The tent can hold as many as three thousand, five hundred spectators. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
