Nisani Garcia Held for Unlicensed Weapon
Twenty-four-year-old Nisani Garcia was found with a loaded point three-eighty pistol in the area of Saint Jude’s Street on Wednesday night by police responding to a shooting incident. Today, he appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm and unlicensed ammunition. Police received information about shots being fired in the Back-A-Town area and four officers went to a yard on Saint Jude Street where they found a dark-skinned man in black t-shirt and red short pants, wearing a black cap, stooping down at the back of a house. The man was later identified as Garcia. Police ordered him to lay where he was and searched him, finding nothing. But in the immediate area they found the pistol under a cement block lying under a wooden house. In court, Garcia pleaded not guilty to both charges but due to the nature of the offenses, he was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until July twelfth, 2018.
