Jason Williams Survives Shooting Attempt in Dangriga

Alejandro Cowo

Jason Williams, a resident of Dangriga, was lucky to have escaped with his life on Tuesday night when a gunman let loose a hail of bullets at him.  He did not get away unscathed, but his injury is not considered life-threatening.  Williams, according to police, was with two other men when they were attacked.  During the shooting, he was hit once in the left shoulder.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division

“On May 1st, 2018, sometime after 7:30 p.m., police visited 24 Gumagarugu Road where they observed Jason Williams suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of his shoulder.  What police received from him is that he was socializing inside of a yard along with two other male persons when a person jumped the fence and fired several shots in their direction, causing the injuries.  So far no one has been detained.”

“There is a theory.  I am not asking for you to confirm, or perhaps you can share what you’ve heard thus far.  There is a theory that Mr. Williams had been a witness in the murder of Gerald Tillett a few years back, and that perhaps this matter is coming before the courts in the days ahead.  Have you guys been able to ascertain if this was indeed the motive as to why Mr. Williams was targeted?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“We have not established a motive so far and we are still working on that investigation at this moment.”
