“Eighteen year old Robert “Black” Jones was sitting on these steps with some friends when someone came from the back of the house and fired several shots at him.”
Jones, who did not wish to appear on camera, received bullet wounds to his right hand and both legs. But who would want to kill Jones? Well, the young man’s mother, Sonia Dawson, claims that her son is being mistaken as a member of a rival gang.

“Well actually my son noh gang. But my mother, my sister, my daughter live on Mayflower Street and he goes on Mayflower Street to hail them. He lives to the back here and actually this area is like a Bloods, so like they hate to see my son come off of Mayflower Street, which is Ghost Town as you know, and come to the back here where he lives which is Bloods, you understand. That’s actually why I think they are after my son. But no the gang bang, I noh di (am not) swear for him and I no wah get my head chopped off for my son, but he personally noh gang bang.”
The gunman, identified as someone known only as “Tito” fired a total of four shots. The family did recover one expended nine millimetre shell from the veranda. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
According to authorities they do have the suspect in custody but because no charges have yet been brought against him they have not released his name.
