Honduras Stops Ship with Cocaine Cargo Headed to Belize

We have been reporting on the frequency of suspected drug planes – at least seven since November 2017 – landing in northern and central Belize. The abandoned planes are usually found without cargo and in some cases damaged. But the illicit drugs are not only being transported by air, but also by water.  Tonight, authorities in Honduras have confirmed a bust of three hundred and nineteen kilos of cocaine made aboard a ship headed to Belize from Colombia a week ago. The illicit cargo has been valued at ten million Belize dollars. While it is not known who is the connection in Belize, La Prensa newspaper reports that the bust of the Panamanian vessel “Angeline” was made on April twenty-ninth near Puerto Cortes, Honduras.  The ship, however, was inspected a week later, on Monday when the cocaine was discovered. Four persons were held and authorities continue their investigations.
