“Ode to Independence” comes Wed. night
On Wednesday, The House of Culture invites you to an historical September celebration. The Ode To Independence, which is scheduled to be performed at the Princess Hotel, is a treat that Belizeans do not see everyday. According to one of the organizers, Jason Guerrero, they are encouraging the public, especially students, to attend the event.

“The Ode to Independence is a composition done by Sir Colville Young, the Governor General of Belize. It’s a secular cantata and it incorporates strings, wind instruments and also a full choir, the S.A.T.B. Choir. And this particular performance is very important in that it’s the first time a Belizean composition has been orchestrated be Belizeans, all the musicians are Belizeans. And so it’s going to be a very important night because of that.”
Tickets are available at C.Y.’s Music and the House of Culture for twenty dollars adults, ten dollars for children. The performance gets underway in the Queen’s Room at 7:30.
