Police to Revise Patrols Following Shootings in Port
Following the recent shootings and murders in south side of Belize City, the police has amped up its patrols and presence in Port Loyola, specifically in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. Both shootings reported earlier in the newscast, happened under the nose of the police, which has a checkpoint about two blocks away. So have perpetrators been able to outsmart the officers on the ground and carry out these acts of gun violence undetected? Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo says that more boots will be placed on the ground to contain the gang war and crimes in Jane Usher and surrounding areas.

“Yes, we know that there has been an increase of shooting incidents in that area and police has stepped up their patrols and have posted checkpoints in most of these areas where shootings have been happening. I know that this morning there is another operation that is taking place in the Jane Usher area to contain what has happen during last week and that will continue during this week. And I have been informed by the commander that there will be more boots in the area especially more to the back of the Jane usher area where these incidents are occurring.”
