Cayo man charged with murder
Believe it or not, there was other news in Belize today and amidst getting ready for today’s event at the Radisson we managed to gather at least some of it. In the Cayo District a man has been charged with murder arising out of an incident on Saturday night. Twenty-four year old Gilbert Martinez was charged with both murder and wounding in the stabbing death of twenty-two year old Benjamin Ku. Martinez and Ku had been drinking at a birthday party in Santa Elena when around eleven they became embroiled in a fight. Ku was stabbed in the stomach and pronounced dead on arrival at Belmopan Hospital.
