City Man Fined for Drug Sale to Undercover Cop
A Belize City man was caught red-handed supplying drugs to an undercover police officer and took the rap for it today. Emmerson Neal of Aloe Vera Street admitted a charge of supplying a controlled substance to another and was fined three hundred dollars due by June fifteenth, in default two months’ imprisonment. Police conducted a sting operation in the Complex area of the City on November eighth, 2017, targeting persons they knew to be selling marijuana at a warehouse on M and Y Street. The undercover cop, dressed in ‘plain clothes,’ was given a marked five dollar bill to make his purchase and rode to the area on bicycle. He then approached Neal at the warehouse, asking where he could get some drugs. According to the officer, Neal retrieved a bag from a nearby fence then offered to sell him what was in the bag for three dollars – namely two other black plastic bags containing the suspected cannabis. He handed over the money to Neal and then called for back-up, bringing other officers to the area. They immediately searched Neal and recovered the marked bill. Neal, well and truly caught, told Magistrate Michelle Trapp that he thought he was looking out for someone and that the weed came from his personal stash.
