Separate Gun, Drug Busts on the Island
At around midday today, San Pedro police conducted a search at the residence of thirty-seven-year-old Brionne Deston Swift, a fisherman of the DFC area. The joint operation led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing eight point four grams of cocaine hidden inside a speaker. They also found several quantities of cannabis amounting to thirty-eight grams in different plastic bags. Also present at the home was twenty-four-year-old Miriam Rodriguez, a part-time teacher of San Mateo. They were both charged for drug trafficking. Elsewhere on the island, sometime around ten a.m., a search was carried out at the home of eighteen-year-old John Carlos Hernandez, a Belizean of Central Park. The raid yielded seven, nine-millimeter rounds. Hernandez and twenty-one-year-old Tracey Betancourt were both arrested and charged with kept ammunition without a gun license.
