Accountant Targeted in Palmar
A thirty-two-year-old accountant from San Jose Palmar Village in Orange Walk District was the victim of a shooting on Wednesday night. Jose Oscar Santana says he was inside his yard when someone from across the street opened fire at him. The gunman reportedly hid within an overgrown lot before taking aim at the unsuspecting man, injuring him to the right arm. Santana was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was treated before he discharged himself from the health facility. ACP Joseph Myvett says that Orange Walk investigators retrieved eight expended shells from the scene.

“Police responded to a shooting incident in San Jose Palmar Village in Orange Walk District where upon arrival they met one Jose Santana who had one gunshot injury to the right arm. He reported that whilst in his yard moving towards the gate, he heard several shots and realized that he was shot to the right arm. Mister Santana lives opposite an occupied, overgrown lot from where police conducted searches and recovered eight expended nine millimeter shells.”

“So it would appear the shooter was hiding in those bushes to fire at the gentleman?”

“Yes, that is what the investigation leading to.”

“So at this time are police having difficulties with this particular case given the nature of the circumstances?”

“Well it is a very young investigation and the officers are following through this morning to see how far we can get with this investigation.”
