Teen Brandon Hughes Sent to Jail in Murder of Oscar Rosado Sr.
Eighteen-year-old Brandon Hughes is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned of Friday for the murder of businessman Oscar Rosado Sr. Hughes was one of three men accused of robbing Rosado’s construction supply store on Cemetery Road on the afternoon of April twenty-third. During the hold-up, the elderly man was shot in the head as he came to the aid of his wife. His pockets were then rifled and the thieves made off with his wallet. Persistent police work led to Hughes’ apprehension, while two others are being sought in connection with the incident.

“On Thursday, Brandon Hughes was formally arrested and charged for the murder of Mr. Rosado which had occurred in the month of April, you know.”

“Right. I know that had to be a very difficult investigation, I know your officers were working on it for a long time. Is he the suspect that you all had been looking for from that day and he’d been in hiding?”

“Yes, it’s him and another person. We are still looking for the other person.”

“Okay, so is he believed to be the gunman?”

“He was part of that trio that went there.”

“Okay, but according to Ms. Elena Rosado, there was one particular person when they brought back the nails, he came after her and her husband came to her defense and he was killed. Is Mr. Hughes that person?”

“That is something that the investigation is still, that we are still looking at to determine exactly who was the gunman at the time.”
