American Airlines steps up to help sick baby
On Monday night’s newscast, we featured the story of thirteen month old Jaesha Daly, who needs to get to the United States for urgent medical treatment. And tonight there is good news to report. American Airlines has agreed to provide the family with one free adult ticket. This means Jaesha’s family will only need money for miscellaneous expenses and to pay ten percent of an adult ticket to Dallas, as babies travel free within the United States. Jaesha was born with gastroschisis, a condition where her stomach and intestines were exposed at birth. She was operated on within hours and today has made remarkable progress. However, Jaesha now requires a second surgery to reconstruct her abdominal wall so that one day she can live a normal life. Doctors in Birmingham, Alabama have already agreed to perform the procedure free of cost. On behalf of Jaesha and her family, we offer our heartfelt thanks to American Airlines for this generous gesture. If you would like to help Jaesha, please contact her mother, Caroline Jones, at 223-6633.
