P.M. opens new police station in Cayo

Story Picture
On Friday ceremonies were held for the inauguration of a new police station in the village of Santa Familia in the Cayo District. In his address Prime Minister Said Musa emphasised that while government must work to eradicate the roots of crime, there will be no coddling of criminals.

Prime Minister Said Musa

“Yes, we have to tackle crime from all angles. We have to analyse the causes, but then we have to come down hard on the criminals. And this building here in Santa Familia, this police station, will serve as a clear signal that your government and you the people are determined to be on the side of law and order. Because my friends, whilst we strive for freedom and justice there can be no freedom unless there is order, there can be no justice unless there is order.”

“So we must strive to ensure at all times that there is law and order, that we are a nation committed to the principle that the rule of law is supreme.”

The station was built at a cost of sixty-five thousand dollars and includes furniture, equipment and a two-bedroom home for the resident police officer.
