Altercation Leads City Men to Court
A city resident is accused of harm and damage to property following an altercation with his neighbor. It is not clear what led to the dispute between thirty-seven-year-old Jose Guzman and Horace Lord on Sunday, but Guzman allegedly punched Lord and caused one hundred dollars’ worth of damage to Lord’s door. Appearing before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, Guzman claimed he was attacked first by Lord, who bit him, prompting Guzman to punch him in retaliation. An equivocal plea of not guilty was entered and bail was set at eight hundred dollars, subject to Guzman staying away from Lord, his family and other prosecution witnesses. Guzman also had to pay several outstanding fines to the court. He returns on July thirtieth.
